Centennial projects are high-impact initiatives that will create lasting impacts on the state and future generations. 

 

Eligibility 

Centennial projects: 

  • Achieve broad outcomes and/or have regional or statewide significance.
  • Align with multiple GOCO program values: resource conservation, outdoor stewardship, community vitality, equitable access, and youth connections.
  • Prioritize equity by including underrepresented communities in planning and outcomes.
  • Engage the community through intentional processes and resident leadership.
  • Involve collaboration with local and regional stakeholders and multiple and diverse funding commitments, reflecting the project’s importance. 

Organizations eligible for GOCO funding include Colorado cities, towns, and counties; Title 32 special districts; land conservation organizations that advance the acquisition of open space; political subdivisions of the State of Colorado whose missions are to identify, manage, or acquire open space and natural areas; and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. 

 

Grant Awards

  • Capital and stewardship: $2 to $5 million per project
  • Land acquisitions: up to $10 million per project
  • GOCO may suggest a revised award amount, as needed.

 

Deadlines 

Centennial project funding is not available for fiscal year 2026 (July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026). Deadlines for future years are forthcoming. For more information, contact your regional officer.
