GOCO Site Visit

-
Chaffee County

Tentative agenda:

Day 1: Thursday 2-4PM, Dinner 6-8PM

  1. Visit S Mountain and the Methodist Front project sites that have received recent GOCO funding through Planning and Capacity, CPW Regional Partnerships, Colorado Youth Conservation Corps, and RESTORE Colorado.  Learn from a diversity of partners engaged in wildfire mitigation, habitat protection, and sustainable recreation.  Partners include Envision Chaffee County, City of Salida, Southwest Conservation Corps, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and more!
  2. Dinner will be hosted at the Hutchinson Ranch.  Join our partners out at the beautiful, conserved Hutchinson Ranch (Salida, CO) to enjoy delicious local food and learn more about land protection and agricultural vibrancy in the upper Arkansas Valley! We will also be joined by the Trust for Public Land and CCALT to further discuss land conservation priorities.

Day 2: Friday 9AM – 12PM

  1. Join our partners at Centennial Park and the Salida River Park to learn more about recent and future investments in community vitality and economic prosperity.

Day 3: Saturday 9AM-2PM (Optional)

  1. Browns Canyon Raft Trip: Join us for this splashy, scenic float through Browns Canyon National Monument.  We will be coordinating with local land managers (CPW, BLM, etc.) to join us for a fun day of rafting through iconic wilderness, learning, and fun!
  2. IF INTERESTED: We are still in the early stages of planning the trip, so please let us know if you (and other members of your family*) are interested in joining us for the trip. Any additional family members would have to pay for their own seat on the raft. No experience necessary, first timers welcome! It is a Class III trip, so there is a potential of swimming depending on the water levels.
