DENVER – The Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Board will be in Lamar this month for its Board meeting. Chana Reed of Lamar, who just recently retired from the Lamar Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the 17-member Board that will receive more than $55 million in Lottery proceeds this year. GOCO will award grants with those funds for outdoor recreation, trails and open space projects, including projects like the Lamar Baseball & Softball Complex. The GOCO Board meeting will take place on:

Items being considered include an investment proposal from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and State Trail Grant Awards. Following the meeting, the Board will host a lunch at 12:30 p.m. at the same location for community members including locally elected officials.

Great Outdoors Colorado is the result of a citizens’ initiative enacted by voters in 1992. GOCO’s constitutional mission is to help “preserve, protect, enhance and manage the state’s wildlife, park, river, trails and open space heritage.” Projects in Prowers County have been awarded $1.4 million in GOCO grants.
