Okay, where did summer go?! Fortunately, there's a silver lining for students at three schools - they'll have new playgrounds to enjoy on their first day back. We also had three land conservation properties close (just like buying a house...there's a lot to do after you committ the funding!) and saw the completion of flood recovery, habitat restoration, and trail construction projects. Erika joined GOCO earlier this summer, diving right into things with her first day being our June board meeting! Erika's work supports our youth-focused grant programs, including the cornerstone Inspire Initiative from our five-year strategic plan and the School Yard Initiative that has transformed playgrounds and school play yards around the state. GOCO staff is hitting the road in August for our annual local government grant writing workshops. We're also looking for feedback from all of our grantees about what it's like to work with GOCO. The first two hours of the agenda are for prospective local government grantees to learn how to make their applications as competitive as possible; the second hour-and-a-half segment will be dedicated to asking about your experiences working with GOCO staff on grant applications and funded projects.
