Over the course of nearly two decades, GOCO invested more than half a million dollars in Routt County’s historic fairgrounds in Hayden. Routt County’s first fair took place in 1914 and has become a signature event celebrating the community and area’s rich agricultural heritage.

The GOCO funding, awarded through local parks and outdoor recreation grant programs, has supported a wide spectrum of needed facility improvements, including ADA accessibility, a pedestrian bridge, a sand volleyball court, and nine full-service RV sites. The fairgrounds also invested GOCO funding in replacing a deteriorating, 46-year-old restroom with a new, ADA-compliant restroom and shower facility and added portable bleachers, providing a comfortable and inviting visitor experience. These amenities also help site managers better accommodate weddings, rodeos, celebrations, and other community events, making the fairgrounds a true community hub year-round.
